In France, you have the choice between two tax regimes:

• The first is a flat tax of 6% + 0.5% CRDS on the total resale value.

• The second choice is a withholding tax of 34.5% on the capital gain made if the resale of your gem occurs during the first 3 years.

• The rate of this withholding tax, however, decreases by 5% per year until it becomes zero after 22 years following your acquisition.
